John, I want to be clear.
Senator Markey should vote for the War Powers Resolution to end this nonsense in Venezuela. We can’t afford any more of his regrettable votes.
And this isn’t hypothetical. We’ve seen where these kinds of votes lead. Congress is told there isn’t a choice, that intelligence is solid, that war is necessary. Those claims turn out to be lies, and young Americans pay the price.
Senator Markey voted yes on the Iraq War based on a lie. Millions of lives were lost. Trillions of dollars were wasted, and an entire generation was sent to fight and die in a war we never needed.
Years later, he rubber-stamped Marco Rubio based on another lie. Now we’re watching the same pattern repeat as the Trump Administration pushes us toward confrontation in Venezuela based on claims that don’t hold up.
This isn’t abstract for me. I was one of the young Americans sent to fight these wars. I’ve seen what happens when Washington gets it wrong. Service members and their families pay the price.
We can’t afford leaders who keep repeating the same mistakes, or Democrats who go along with Republican war-mongering instead of stopping it.
