John,
Can I be honest with you? I’m about to ask for your support even though I don’t love asking for money.
But before you close out of this email, I’m asking for one minute of your time — because this election year is do-or-die for the future of our Democratic Party, and I want to be straight with you about why.
Still here? Thank you. I appreciate you, truly. 🙏
Look, we are officially in 2026 now. That means the attention, the money, and the pressure around this race are only going to intensify from here on.
The political chatter will become more chaotic the closer we get to Election Day, and by then, it can be extremely difficult to break through the noise. That’s why I want to tell you this now:
We can win this competitive primary AND defeat Mike Rogers this November — but there’s a big “if” to that.
Before I delve into what the “if” is, I’d like to remind you that after losing a presidential election to a creepy authoritarian billionaire, too many party bosses and think tank consultants decided the ideal approach to campaigning was to run on a say-nothing, stand-for-nothing platform.
Michigan is the epicenter of whether that approach wins or fails.
We have a wide-open primary, and whoever wins it will have to fight Trump’s handpicked candidate, Mike Rogers, for a must-win Senate seat. If we get this wrong in Michigan, it won’t just cost us one Senate seat — it could set back any real effort to rebuild this party for years.
And the same old guard forces that botched the last election already have their thumb on the scale here. They’ve lined up behind a candidate who votes like a Republican when it counts, takes corporate PAC money without hesitation, and boasts about receiving AIPAC’s endorsement.
Their strategy is simple: Stay quiet, cash in the checks, and hope enough TV ads can drown out our message.
They’re dead wrong. I know we have what it takes to win. Depending on the poll, we’re nearly tied for first or second place. We’re also laser-focused on things that the majority of Americans support:
But there’s still that big “if” I’ve been mentioning throughout this email.
John, we can only win this competitive primary and defeat Mike Rogers IF we have the resources to respond to attacks, spread our message, and reach enough swing voters across Michigan.
Once AIPAC and the MAGA money machine start funneling millions of dollars into Michigan to boost their preferred candidates, it’ll already be too late to do anything about it if we haven’t built a strong enough foundation to prepare.
That’s where the magic of this grassroots team comes in, John.
I know you likely can’t afford to contribute a massive amount of money at once, but with our recurring donation program, you can give a little each month that ends up having a huge impact on our campaign.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. I know your time is valuable, and I hope this left you feeling what I feel every day on the trail — that together, we can win.
Your friend in the fight,
Abdul
