Donna Mears and other East Anchorage legislators for an Eastside Townhall this coming Saturday, January 10, at 2:00 PM at the Russian Jack Chalet (1600 Lidia Selkregg Ln). This is a great opportunity to hear from all legislators in our neighborhood, voice your concerns and ask us questions. We hope to see you there. My constituent survey is also still live at SenatorBill.org through Feb 22. Presenting SB 113 to the Senate Finance Committee Opinion: Fiscal plans are built one piece at a time I recently published an opinion piece alongside Senate Education Committee Chair Löki Tobin and Anchorage School Board Member Carl Jacobs discussing the impacts of SB 113. The legislature passed this bill in May and the governor vetoed it in September. If the legislature can once again override the governor, this bill would bring up to $65 million in revenue to Alaska and ensure our reading and career & technical education programs are funded. This bill would modernize our corporate tax structure to ensure out-of-state corporations pay Alaska, not other states; it would not impact local and small businesses. Read it online here. I will continue to work with my colleagues to override the SB 113 veto during the first week of session. Session convenes on Tues, Jan 20.
