Friend,
Any moment now, the Senate will reveal their next coronavirus relief package. We expect billions of dollars will be proposed to fund private religious education, fulfilling the Trump-DeVos agenda of playing to their religious extremist base.
To make matters worse, this funding push comes on the heels of the Payroll Protection Program (PPP) "loans" (which are meant to be forgiven, meaning they're really outright grants). Our team will soon be releasing an in-depth report on exactly how much taxpayer money has already gone to religious organizations and schools, and sharing that data with lawmakers, but I can tell you right now: it is also in the billions of dollars.
Those taxpayer dollars should be going to public schools that provide a free education for everyone, schools that are required to welcome all students regardless of their race, religion or ability. At this urgent time, will you help us fight back against the Trump-DeVos agenda to funnel taxpayer dollars to private religious schools?

In the wake of the Supreme Court’s decision in Espinoza v. Montana Dept. of Revenue, the biggest proponents of private school vouchers now see an unprecedented opportunity to expand public funding of private religious education. Every voucher program may now have to allocate money to private religious schools if they fund secular private schools, in violation of the principle of church-state separation.
We can’t let them succeed in pulling money away from public schools – especially in the midst of a global pandemic.
