Newsletter - Keeping Up With Callie
01/05/2026
Hi John,
As we step into the new year in Upper and Northern Michigan, you have a real opportunity to make a difference and be part of something great. This is a place shaped by tough winters, long miles, and people who don’t back down. People with sisu .
We roll up our sleeves and get to work, not just for ourselves, but for our neighbors and our communities. From our small towns and tribal communities to our lakeshores and forests, this region has always been built by folks who show up for one another. Our campaign is about honoring that grit and determination — listening, fighting for our way of life, and making sure our voices are heard in Washington. The year ahead is full of possibilities, and we can only seize it together.
If you’re ready to help build a future that reflects our values, please consider donating or volunteering today — your support powers this movement forward.

Issue Spotlight: Let's Enjoy L.I.F.E
We’ve been through a lot this past year. Prices are too high, healthcare is harder to afford, and too many people are being made to feel like their struggles matter less. Know this: No matter who you are, where you were born, or how much money you have in your pocket, your life matters; you matter.
That is why our platform is grounded in the values we were promised: Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness . For me, that means fighting every day for an Affordable L.I.F.E [[link removed]] — lowering everyday costs, making healthcare truly accessible, and expanding opportunity so people can build a future without fear of falling behind.
We hear from people across our district whose premiums continue to rise, who are one increase away from losing coverage altogether, or who’ve already been forced to go without care. We don’t need a concept of a plan — we need a real plan that lowers costs and protects coverage. And until we see that plan, we must extend healthcare subsidies so families, seniors, and working people aren’t left uninsured.
But I will fight for your opportunities and your dignity with everything I have, because here in Northern and Upper Michigan, we stand up for our neighbors and we don’t stop until the job is done.

2025 Travel Recap [[link removed]]
As I travel across the district, I hear the same thing again and again: people are working hard and still struggling to get by. Seniors tell me they’re worried about the rising cost of food — even pet food. I heard the story of a woman in her 50s battling cancer whose healthcare premiums have climbed to $1,200 a month while she’s also putting a child through college. A man on a fixed income shared that his Medicare Part D costs are going up $80 a month. I spoke with a 27-year-old working full-time who’s given up on the dream of owning a home and can’t afford healthcare at all. [[link removed]]
I also met an 82-year-old who told me she’s thankful to have a full-time job because it means she knows she can afford her next meal. I’ve heard from senior meal programs forced to serve smaller portions as they try to help more people with fewer resources. And I talked with a woman earning minimum wage who drives an hour and a half each way to work because she can’t find affordable housing closer to home. These stories stay with me — they’re not abstract problems, they’re our neighbors, and they’re exactly why I’m running.
