A Spiritual Bouquet for the
Descent of the Holy Spirit
Dear Friend,
Following up on my previous message
about the Consistory of Cardinals next week, I’d like to direct your
attention to one very important intention that should fill our Spiritual
Bouquet with graces:
We need to pray for the Holy Spirit to descend upon the
Cardinals at the consistory as if it were the Day of
Pentecost!
I don’t think I’m overstating the matter and you
can add
your gift to the spiritual bouquet now. We are at a
critical moment in the life of the Church. As you know, we have a new
pope whose election was a shock to everyone, ourselves included! Who
could have imagined an American pope, ever?
Yet, we believe that Pope Leo is
the legitimately chosen Vicar of Christ, but, to be quite honest about
things, he comes with a few question marks that have yet to be
clarified. It is not entirely clear, for example, how much he is going
to continue some of the contradictory policies that caused so much
division in the Church under the previous pontificate.
For example, we have a right to be
concerned about
-
The wishy-washy ethic on Communion for
the divorced and remarried that issued from the awful 2016 document
Amoris
laetitiae;
- The
doctrinal confusion about critical issues such as homosexuality, the
push for “deaconesses”, and the alarming syncretism of indigenous
religions into the True Faith;
- The
persecution of adherents to the Traditional Latin Mass which is being
presently carried out by certain bishops in our own country with a
vengeance;
- The
literal defection from the True Faith of the Church in
Germany;
- The
unprecedented and highly unusual focus on “synodality” that rings so
foreign to faithful Catholics.
There are also personnel questions
that need to be addressed such as the continuing tenure of the truly
harmful Cardinal Fernandez in the Dicastery of the Doctrine of the
Faith as well as the recent appointment of bishops who have
questionable credentials and frightening ideological
leanings.
This is all the more reason why we
need to pray for the descent of the Holy Spirit on the cardinals to
call down a new Pentecost upon the Church. Many of the issues I just
mentioned are on the agenda and may still be raw from the previous
experiences, so we must ask for the Light from On High to give the
Cardinals all the wisdom they need to deliberate well, in union with
our Sacred Tradition, and to bolster the Church for a new
age.
Our petition should be the cry from
the heart of the Church at Pentecost:
“Come Holy Spirit, fill the
hearts of the Faithful and enkindle in them the fire of Thy love, send
forth Thy Spirit and they shall be created and Thou shalt renew the
face of the earth!”
Yours in the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of
Mary,
