Dear John,
NIAC's upcoming Virtual Gala takes place in an extraordinary moment of shared sacrifice and exemplary service. As we continue to meet the challenges of these times, we look forward to honoring some of the special members of our community who have gone above and beyond to serve and give back. These individuals' inspiring acts of service and commitment exemplify the best of what it means to be Iranian American.

Dr. Kamran Tabaddor is a respected member of the New York Tri-State medical community. As a founding member of NIAC's New York Leadership Council, Dr. Tabaddor spearheaded NIAC's efforts to provide information and support regarding COVID-19 to our Persian speaking members. His philanthropy and volunteership have inspired those around him to take leadership roles and to help us build a powerful community voice in the New York Tri-State region.

Maziar and Shahab Farivar are founders of the popular Washington, DC restaurants Peacock Cafe and Vintage 78. When the pandemic hit, they worked to prepare and serve meals for over 500 frontline health workers and persons in need. For nearly 30 years they have been pillars of our community both locally and internationally, including as Chef Ambassadors in the US State Department’s Diplomatic Culinary Partnership.
We look forward to honoring our 2020 award winners with you next Thursday, July 30 at 8pm ET. If you haven’t yet, make sure you RSVP today and consider a donation in honor of our inspiring awardees.
In solidarity,
Jamal Abdi
President, NIAC
