The climate crisis poses an existential threat to life on Earth. At least
one generation understands that—it’s just not the generation in charge.
 
While the adults who run the Senate do nothing, America’s young people are
leading the climate fight. I joined a group of young leaders from the
Sunrise Movement this week to pledge my support for a Green New Deal.

I also signed the No Fossil Fuel Money Pledge—rejecting contributions from
the oil, gas, and coal industry. Our campaign doesn’t take any PAC money
at all.

Why? Because we believe the special interests have enough politicians on
their payrolls.

Take Cory Gardner.

Gardner sits on the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, and—no
surprise here—the oil and gas industry poured $233,471 into his campaign
in the last six months alone.^1 That makes Cory Gardner the top recipient
of oil and gas donations in the Senate this year.

[ [link removed] ]Coloradans deserve a senator who will work for us, not the fossil fuel
industry. Chip in $ to our campaign right now to defeat Cory
Gardner and enact a Green New Deal.

Unless we act now, we’ll condemn our children to a world where droughts,
heat waves, floods, storms, and wildfires become even more frequent and
more destructive. A world where hundreds of millions of people are
uprooted from their homes and turned into climate refugees. 

That’s where we’re headed, but it doesn’t have to be this way. 

We can change course. We can end our reliance on fossil fuel and
accelerate our transition to a clean-energy economy—but only if we elect
leaders who aren’t beholden to the industries they’re supposed to be
regulating.
