This morning, Trump announced on social media that the U.S. had invaded
Venezuela and abducted Venezuelan president Nicolás Maduro. Trump openly
threatened a “large-scale strike,” signaling destruction, civilian
casualties, and the use of overwhelming military force as a display of
raw power.
This must be opposed NOW—not later, not quietly, but openly and in the streets.
As stated in “Trump has openly disregarded international law and disparaged our
allies, waged unauthorized military actions, threatened wider war, and
supported acts of genocide and war crimes. He asserted a doctrine of
U.S. domination over entire regions, dismissing international law and
human rights.” What we are witnessing today is this indictment made real
in real time.
This massive escalation echoes Trump’s revival of the Monroe Doctrine—a
doctrine of domination that treats entire regions as the rightful domain
of U.S. power, enforcing submission through threat, force, and lawless
violence.
Trump and his inner circle did not even pretend to follow the most basic
requirements for consulting Congress before launching acts of war. This
is the fascist logic of this regime laid bare: rule by decree, contempt
for law, and the open assertion that brute force—“maximum lethality
over tepid legality,” in Pete Hegseth’s words—is all that matters.
This is lawless aggression. It is the open assertion that force alone
determines what is right. It is gangster rule on a global scale—violence
carried out because this fascist regime believes it can act without
consequence, without legitimacy, and without restraint. It follows
months of deadly U.S. actions carried out on fabricated pretexts, with
human lives treated as expendable.
Trump’s refusal to acknowledge constitutional limits or consult Congress
before acts of war further exposes the fascist character of this
regime. This is rule by decree. Power replaces law. Threats replace
accountability. The message is unmistakable: opposition, norms, and
human life itself are obstacles to be crushed.
The silence and passivity with which such outrages are met inside this
country must END. Fascism does not advance only through brutality from
above—it advances through normalization and accommodation below.
Waiting, adjusting, or hoping institutions will restrain this regime is a
deadly illusion.
Fascism is not a looming threat. It is upon us now. Humanity’s only hope
is for the decent people of this country to rise in our
millions—nonviolently but with determination—to drive the Trump fascist
regime from power. NOW is the time to meet this grave escalation
together in the streets with urgency and unshakeable resolve.
