Over the last several months, Donald Trump and the Republicans have led a relentless charge to manipulate congressional maps to grab as many seats as they can. They’ve resorted to staggering levels of corruption, using threats of violence, intimidation, and bribery to try to rig the 2026 midterms.
They’re showing us repeatedly that they’re willing to silence the will of the people to hold on to power, something that goes against every tenet of our democracy.
Americans have had enough.
According to a new POLITICO poll, more than two-thirds of Democrats want to proactively fight back against Republicans’ extreme gerrymandering. As NDRC President John Bisognano said, “We’ve seen an extraordinary public outcry in favor of fighting back against Donald Trump’s overreaches in basically every forum."
The NDRC exists for fights like this — and we’re ready to use every tool at our disposal to make sure our elections are fair in 2026 and beyond. But this fight takes resources. Will you step up today with a donation to make sure we can defend our democracy from Republican attacks? [[link removed]]
An overwhelming majority of Americans still want state maps drawn by independent commissions, not political parties. And that’s our ultimate mission — a truly fair and representative democracy. But we can’t achieve it if we allow Republicans to run rampant in this redistricting crisis. We must preserve our democracy right now so we can pass legislation that would end these mid-decade redraws for good.
That means fighting back with responsible, responsive actions, like California’s Proposition 50, which voters resoundingly approved in November, or Missouri’s citizen-driven ballot initiative to reject the gerrymander passed by the state legislature.
Donald Trump isn’t giving up on his efforts to rig our elections so Republicans can cling to power. We have to dig deep to keep fighting back — whatever you’re able to give today will make a difference. [[link removed]]
