John,

Our Brothers and Sisters with the American Federation of Teachers - Arizona (AFT) have planned a Car Caravan to the Capitol to Open Schools SAFELY on Tuesday, July 28th! See below for message from Ralph Quintana, President of American Federation of Teachers - Arizona, for event details and learn how you can join us!

Arizona is faced with disaster of epic proportions, yet our Governor continues to deny this situation even exists. Then he is making the situation worse for the public by refusing to access the estimated $542 MILLION in the rainy day fund.

Let's say the Governor actually delays the opening of schools, if we do not get additional funding we will not be able to meet the technology needs of our working class and poor communities across the state.

Do something about the funding we need to open our schools SAFELY and/or to meet the technology needs of our struggling communities. It is not fair to delay opening without adding the additional funding to give access to the curriculum that schools are providing, no more than it is to refuse the additional funds needed to open our schools SAFELY!

From the reservations to the inner cities and even middle class neighborhoods across the state, we need additional help to both open schools safely and ensure access to the curriculum for ALL of our communities.

For the vast majority of Arizonans, it is a rainy day Governor! (Link to information on Governor Ducey's "Balanced, Fiscally Conservative Budget")

Please join us at the Arizona State Capitol on Tuesday, July 28th between 10 AM - 1 PM to let the Governor know that we expect him to access the rainy day funds for our public schools and the SAFE opening of our schools. In person or virtually, we need your support! We will have car window decorating paint available inside the Capitol Parking Lot.

Here is the planned route for the Car March at the Capitol!

If you have any questions please reach out!

In Solidarity,
Ralph Quintana
