Hello John,

We’re heading into a new year that presents so many challenges. The EPA is trying to remove clean water and wetlands protections. It wants to end greenhouse gas monitoring and the limits on methane that protect local communities and the climate. And that’s just the EPA.

Instead of going on about the threats I want to tell you about the photo above and what gives me hope and confidence that we will beat these challenges and threats.

It’s people like you who inspire me. You supported Earthworks and local groups like Cultivando who, in the photo above, told Colorado leaders to step up and protect families from toxic air pollution coming from refineries and factories.

It’s also leaders like Colorado state Senator Faith Winter who joined us at the event above and who led the charge year after year. Unfortunately, Senator Winter, a mother of two, passed away in a tragic accident the night before Thanksgiving.

There are still courageous leaders who will sit down with local communities, listen to people, and lead with shared values – and not with Big Oil and Gas lobbyists in their back pocket telling them what to do.

Thanks to you and your support we will be working in state legislatures and the U.S. Capitol. We’ll be documenting pollution and turning our videos, data, and stories into proof that force leaders and regulators to act. We’re stopping bad bills, filing lawsuits, and turning your voices into power to protect communities, advance clean energy, and support people facing the disasters that Big Oil and Gas (and climate change) bring to our doors.

Thank you for all you do.

In solidarity,

Jennifer Krill
Executive Director
