Sustainable Mendota Heights
*Sustainable Mendota Heights*
Communities focus on sustainability to protect resources, reduce pollution, and create healthier places to live. In Mendota Heights, sustainability efforts have been a part of the city’s strategic approach to projects, programs and infrastructure for decades.
To better define the city’s efforts and highlight sustainability in the community, the Sustainable Mendota Heights initiative brings together residents, businesses, and city leaders to make simple, practical changes – and highlight existing best practices – that add up to big impacts. With a focus on smart energy use, waste reduction, and natural resource protection, the goal of the initiative is to save about $1.6 million and prevent 9,000 metric tons of greenhouse gases from going into the air, by 2030.
Watch for the Sustainable Mendota Heights icon, highlighting sustainability efforts taking place everywhere from city infrastructure projects to local business operations, and drawing attention to how residents can implement sustainable best practices at home.
