We cannot give up on winning the hearts and minds of our fellow Americans.
If you have ever canvassed before and knocked on doors, you know that most people do not have neat worldviews that fit in one category or another.
The most important thing that you can do is find those people, and start to build relationships with them now.
Because a lot of people don't change how they vote based on a debate. A lot of people will change how they vote based on someone they care about.
When people start seeing actions happen around them… you know, first it's like, “Oh, there's a town hall down the street.” They're not going to go, but they're going to notice that it's happening.
People start getting the message eventually. And that heartbeat starts now.
This, to me, is one area where the Democratic Party has historically been quite weak. We can't show up just for election season.
How many of us have had a family member, or someone that you care about, lost to this Trump dark web? How many young boys get sucked up into Andrew Tate stuff?
I don't even feel defensive or angry about it — I feel really bummed that the right wing is dooming a lot of little boys and men to loneliness because of these ideas that they have around other people.
That work is really complicated. That's the work that we need to do.
It is about applying pressure to elected officials, and it is also about transforming each other.
