A Message from Gabe:
Greetings Rhode Islanders,
|
|
As we welcome 2026, I want to begin by thanking you. It is the strength and kindness our community shows every day that fills me with hope.

This past year, especially in recent weeks, has been difficult for many across Rhode Island and our nation. A new year doesn’t erase those challenges, but it does offer something powerful: the chance to pause, to reflect, to reconnect, and to believe that better days are ahead.

Enjoyed meeting Rhode Island’s National American Miss Jr. Teen, Gabriela Paulino. What a pleasure to discuss our work!
To show gratitude for the lifesaving efforts after her own premature birth, she started a nonprofit to support NICUs.
Gabriela’s work shows you're never too young to give back!

Joined some of my youngest constituents and their parents at the Providence Children’s Museum to count down to the ‘Noon’ Year and speak about my work in Congress.
With fun music and a mini New Year’s ball drop, it was a great celebration to kick off 2026 early!

Calling Out the Health Care Cost Crisis Caused by Republican Policies

Congressional Republicans' reckless policies are allowing Affordable Care Act tax credits to expire, which is raising the cost of health insurance premiums and forcing families into financial insecurity and a lack of essential health care coverage.

The expiration of the enhanced premium Affordable Care Act tax credits is a moment of crisis for 22 million Americans, including over 41,000 Rhode Islanders, and for our entire health care system. Families are beginning 2026 facing soaring insurance premiums, disrupted or inadequate coverage, and making the very real decision of going without care. From small businesses to early retirees to middle-income families, millions will have to make impossible choices trying to figure out which bills they can afford to pay because Republicans have not brought an extension of these tax credits to the House floor for a vote. These are not abstract stories — they are parents skipping prescriptions, seniors worrying about their next doctor visit, and Rhode Islanders being forced to gamble with their health.

I have fought to stop the Republican policies causing the health crisis at every turn. I proudly joined all of my Democratic colleagues in signing a discharge petition to compel Speaker Mike Johnson to bring up a vote on a clean, three-year extension of tax credits to lower health care costs. As we look ahead to a vote, I will keep pressing House Republicans to protect health care for Rhode Islanders.

Blasting President Trump's Policies Raising Energy Costs in Rhode Island

President Donald Trump’s policies halting work on nearly complete offshore wind projects, including Rhode Island’s Revolution Wind, are not based on science and facts.

The Administration is putting forward disingenuous policies about ‘national security’ to try to kill this project without valid reasoning.

I will keep fighting to make sure this project is completed. We must deliver more affordable energy for all Rhode Islanders.
