Hi,

As we start a new year, I wanted to share one of my favorite photos from this past year, taken at the grand opening of Franklin Elementary Community Schoolyard in Minnesota.

Seeing photos of 700 students exploring their new outdoor classroom and community garden for the first time reminded me of something important: none of this happens without you. What was once tired turf and aging equipment is now a vibrant green space where kids learn, play, and grow—and where neighbors gather long after the school bell rings.

And that's the thing about every Trust for Public Land project, whether it's a neighborhood schoolyard or a vast stretch of protected wilderness—they all start with people like you who believe in the power of the outdoors for everyone.

I won't sugarcoat it: the year ahead brings real challenges. Our parks, trails, and public lands face serious threats. But here's what gives me hope: watching you and our community of supporters show up again and again throughout 2025. Your commitment, your generosity, your voice—that's what makes me optimistic about what we can accomplish together.

We are ready for the work ahead, and we're deeply grateful to have you with us.

Sincerely,
Joshua VanDavier
Membership Director

P.S. As we plan for the year ahead, the most effective way to support our mission is by becoming a monthly donor. If you're feeling inspired, you can help us start 2026 strong by visiting tpl.org/monthly.
