Herbert, as we officially close the books on 2025 and enter 2026, I wanted to take a moment to reflect.

It feels like an understatement to say so much has changed since January 2025.

Since Donald Trump's second inauguration, I've watched him attack immigrants, cut SNAP and Medicaid, threaten Social Security, and enrich himself at the expense of everyday Americans.

With Senator Durbin retiring, and Trump’s chaos impacting families across our state, I felt called to step up, launch my campaign for the U.S. Senate, and fight for Illinoisans.

But I haven't fought back alone.

You've been with me every step of the way. When I questioned Trump officials in hearings. When I drove cross-country through the night to cast my vote against his radical agenda. When I got the police called on me for trying to conduct oversight at ICE facilities. When I introduced legislation to repeal his devastating cuts.

Your support has made all of that possible. And I'm grateful.

But here's the truth: 2025 was just the warm-up — 2026 is when everything is on the line.

This year, we have a chance to flip the Senate and finally rein in Trump's unchecked power. We can end the chaos. Restore accountability. Protect the programs that millions of families depend on.

But if we fall short, Trump will be emboldened to continue his assault on everything we hold dear. There will be nothing to stop him from packing the courts, rigging redistricting, gutting Medicare, and enriching his billionaire cronies.

Trump's super PACs have already stockpiled over $200 million to defeat Democrats. They're going to throw everything they have at flipping seats and protecting their MAGA majorities. They know that if we win, their grip on power is over.
