Friend,
The coronavirus has laid bare systemic inequality across our country -- from health care to broadband to housing to education to employment. The moment demands that our government truly live up to our democratic principles and promote the general welfare.
In other words, we need to step up and meet the needs of the people – everyday Americans and the most vulnerable among us. If you're with me, please add your name and call on the Senate to pass the HEROES Act immediately.
The last robust stimulus bill signed into law dates
back nearly four months ago.
Meanwhile, COVID-19 continues to plague our country with rising cases and loss of life, unemployment claims continue to mount, families continue to go hungry, and our state and local government budgets continue to hemorrhage, leaving our essential workers in a dire situation.
Democrats in the House attempted to get out in front of this pain by passing the HEROES Act --
a bill for the people -- in May. This comprehensive package ensures another round of stimulus checks, extends unemployment benefits, provides robust state and local aid, as well as much needed funding for broadband, Medicaid, education, housing, and food assistance.
We are now breaking national case records on a near-daily basis. Here in upstate New York, we just saw unemployment increase.
Things have never been more urgent -- sign the petition: Tell the Senate to pass the Heroes Act now, before benefits expire.
We must get beyond the petty partisan politics -- the stakes are simply too high.
Onward and upward,
Antonio
