I’m excited to kick-off my general election campaign with a focus on my record of moderate, independent and effective leadership for Bend and our working families.

As a working mom and small business owner, I understand the daily challenges facing our families and our community during this unprecedented health and economic crisis. As your State Representative, my focus is on the local issues that impact working families – delivering a strongest paid family and medical leave law in the nation, leading for more affordable housing solutions and protecting family budgets from excessive taxes and fees that increase the cost of housing, monthly utility bills, gas and even cell phone. The cost of living is already too high for too many in Bend – I didn’t run for office to make it even worse.

I’m also not afraid to speak my mind, tackle controversial issues and break with my Party to get things done. I’m pro-choice and took-on science deniers to require vaccinations for kids attending public schools. I took-on the vaping industry to protect our kids from their dangerous products. I broke with most in my Party to keep guns away from domestic abusers and stalkers. And I’ve made it clear I will not support President Trump because he is divisive, failed and extreme.

Because I don’t toe the party line and refuse to go along with a relentless onslaught of higher taxes on families and businesses, I am the top target for defeat by the ultra-liberal, big government special interests who control things in Salem. They want another predictable legislator who they can control and does what he’s told. The Salem crowd has their hand-picked candidate who they will shower with campaign donations.

But I’ve got something more powerful – you. A decade of service on the school board and in our community. Knowing people’s first names. Lending a hand. Putting progress and people ahead of partisan politics – always.
