As one of the founding members of JumpStart, a national non-profit organization focused on preparing young children for their education, I have seen how the racism of our city has affected our youth’s ability to grow and learn. I have seen how the segregation and underfunding of New York City’s schools has taken opportunities away from students, preventing them from reaching their full potential. Fixing this must be a priority and a key component of creating a just city.
As Mayor, it will be a top priority of mine to dismantle the inherent racism that persists in our city’s school system.
But I can’t do that alone. Together, we can uproot the racism within our education system, end the school to prison pipeline, and give every child the opportunity to reach their full potential. Contribute today and help us make educational opportunity a reality for all New Yorkers.
