Dear friend of IDP,
Almost two months ago, we started writing to you to share about the Immigrant Defense Project’s work - about our history, about our long term partners and new collaborators, about the impact of our programs at this moment of crisis and about our need for support as we chart out our plans for the year ahead.
THANKS TO ALL OF YOU - WE DID IT! We met our fundraising goal, and then some. And we could not be more grateful.
Last January we mobilized to Albany for an Immigrant Solidarity Rally (pictured below). Now, a year later - a year of inaction by our state leaders - we are getting ready to return to New York’s capital with our demands louder than ever.
In January, just as legislators are returning to session, we will hold a March for the Disappeared to honor families that have been ripped apart as a result of our state conspiring with ICE. We will demand passage of the New York for All Act, once and for all, to stop our local and state resources from being used to carry out a cruel and inhumane federal deportation agenda.
Our work in New York reflects our approach to this work across the country - we are educating people about our constitutional rights, pursuing powerful legal strategies, and changing hearts and minds. Going forward we will be louder, stronger, sharper - thanks to all of you.
