Team,

When I brought my two boys to the House floor to meet Congressman John Lewis, I introduced him as a real life superhero.

With the passing of John Lewis, we lost a civil rights icon, the moral compass of the Congress, and a man who put his own life on the line for justice. It was an honor to serve with him in Congress.

John Lewis dedicated his life to advancing voting rights, from organizing marches as the chair of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), to fighting to pass the Voting Rights Act, to defending the right to vote in Congress for decades.

It's up to us to honor his legacy with action. The Voting Rights Advancement Act would strengthen and restore the Voting Rights Act while expanding access to the ballot box. While this bill overwhelmingly passed the House almost a year ago, it's still sitting on Mitch McConnell's desk.

Congressman Lewis was tireless in his fight to pass the Voting Rights Act of 1965, and in his time in Congress, he never stopped protecting the right to vote from attacks.

We lost a real life superhero, but he taught us how to fight before he left. We owe it to him to continue.

If you're with me, add your name to tell McConnell to call the Voting Rights Advancement Act to a vote and ensure every American can exercise their right to vote.

It's time for all of us to come together to carry on his legacy.

Thank you,

Andy
