John xxxxxx,
When I was elected Governor of Maryland, there were two things I placed on
my desk – and they’re still there today.
First, a quote from President Kennedy, “Things do not happen. Things are
made to happen.” Second, a countdown clock that enumerates the number of
days left in my time as governor.
That clock harkens back to when I was in the military. Because we don’t
count time forward. We count it backward, toward mission completion. We
know that the clock is always running.
I didn’t put this clock on my desk to create pressure for pressure’s sake.
It reminds me that no one is promised a certain number of days or weeks or
even years – in office or in life.
That clock reminds me that I have a finite amount of time to deliver real
results for the people who elected me. And that work doesn’t reset on
January 1.
Instead of resolutions, I believe in resolve. I believe in waking up each
day understanding the privilege of the time we’ve been given – and the
responsibility that comes with it.
Because no time is promised – and every day counts.

John xxxxxx. If you’re able to help
our reelection effort out with a donation, I would be very grateful.
I’m wishing all of my readers a very happy New Year and a 2026 of urgency,
speed, and progress.
Elevate,
Wes
