Dear John,

The Atlantic Coast Pipeline has been stopped. Duke Energy and Dominion Energy
abandoned the $8 billion dollar project weeks ago -- but Duke Energy is
continuing to push more fossil fuel infrastructure forward.

Piedmont Natural Gas Co, a subsidiary of Duke Energy, has obtained a work order
from the Army Corp of Engineers to construct the Robeson LNG (RLNG) Pipeline. If
not stopped, the one billion cubic foot liquified natural gas storage facility
will be built in Wakulla, Robeson County North Carolina -- an area that is
occupied by 87.9% Indigenous (predominantly Lumbee) peoples as well as African
Americans.

Wakulla is a Timucuan word with linkage to Quechua. It is variously translated
with meanings connected to water such as “River of the Crying Bird” or
“Mysterious Waters”. Through historic trade routes it became a part of the
Robeson County geography. It is said that the definition “River of the Crying
Bird” could describe the impact that the RLNG would have on the Wakulla waters
today. These “Mysterious Waters” must be preserved.

John, you used your voice to stand up to Duke Energy
before. We need you to rally with us once more as we topple another one of their
fossil fuel projects!

Tell the Army Corp of Engineers: Stop the work order for the RLNG Pipeline
project.

ecologically. Add in the blatant environmental racism and the vocal opposition
by the Lumbee Tribal Council, it is abundantly clear the project should not even
be considered.

Communities of color are the hardest hit by not only disproportionate proximity
to pollution, but also adverse health effects from these stressors. The Robeson
LNG Pipeline will only add to this disparity for Black and Indigenous peoples in
Robeson County, North Carolina.

The local communities are already concerned with the impacts on their drinking
water from industrial pollution, animal agriculture, and hurricane flooding. The
unnecessary RLNG Project will just add additional pollution to the waterways,
destroying both swamps and seasonal wetlands -- creating concern for the health
and wellbeing of not only this generation, but future generations.

Healthy water, air, and land should not be a right preserved only for the
privileged. All people and wildlife deserve a clean and healthy environment.

Demand the permits for the RLNG Pipeline are pulled. Protect the health of North
Carolina residents.

Take Action
[[link removed]]The climate emergency is at its peak. Year after year we continue to see record
setting wildfires. Hurricanes and tropical storms destroy communities. Last
decade was the hottest on record. The alarm bells are screaming that something
must be done to combat this climate crisis -- and we need your help.

Companies like Duke Energy will continue to push forward with their destruction
of our environment just for the sake of profit. Fossil fuel projects, like the
Robeson LNG Pipeline, are keeping the fossil fuel industry alive -- even though
scientists implore us to keep all fossil fuels in the ground.

A transition to renewable energy is needed to not only protect the communities
living in close proximity to these Big Polluters, but for the entire world. Our
planet needs to rapidly transition away from fossil fuels, but this will only
happen if activists like you, John, help shut down
these large fossil fuel infrastructures.

Help keep fossil fuels in the ground: Tell the Army Corp of Engineers to stop
pushing us further to climate catastrophe.

Take Action
