What We've Accomplished Together in 2025

Dear Neighbor,

I hope this message finds you and your loved ones safe and healthy during this holiday season. As 2025 comes to a close, I'd like to share a brief recap of our work together and highlight some of our collective accomplishments.

The moment we find ourselves in is unprecedented and our communities have been weathering an all-out, targeted assault by the Trump White House that means harm to everyone who calls our district and country home.

Despite this, my team and I have worked in close partnership with community to advance meaningful priorities that address the hurt and harm in our communities and lay the groundwork for an equitable path forward that leaves no one behind.

Delivering for our Communities

Since Fiscal Year 2022, we've secured approximately $35 million in federal community project funding for the Massachusetts 7th—and we saw many of those projects come to life this year.

We delivered critical resources to expand digital literacy programs, invest in culturally-competent childcare and education programming, and open the doors of a state-of-the art community health center.

We also successfully supported hundreds of constituent service cases—helping folks with passport renewals, tax refunds, housing and disability assistance, and more—and we responded to thousands of constituent letters while holding nearly 200 high-impact community events.

Leveraging Every Tool Available

In a year where the Trump administration has attacked federal workers, dismantled vital services, and assaulted our communities, we have worked to fight back in every possible way, using every tool available.

My office introduced 20 pieces of legislation and sent dozens of Congressional letters to urge action, demand Trump and Republicans reverse course, and advance our affirmative agenda for a better future.

Defending our Federal Workforce: While Republicans gutted the federal workforce and manufactured the longest government shutdown in history, I fought to ensure our federal workers and contractors were protected and reinstated.

Standing Up for Human Rights: In a year that has seen unconscionable human rights violations, I continued to stand up for human rights around the globe, from Gaza to Ukraine to Haiti and beyond.

Affirming Reproductive Justice: Abortion care is healthcare, which is why I unveiled the EACH Act to end the discriminatory Hyde amendment and affirm reproductive care as the fundamental right that it is.

Racial Justice Now: I was honored to lead H.R. 40, a historic bill that calls for reparations to address the systemic oppression of Black people—particularly needed amid Trump's unprecedented onslaught against diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility initiatives.

Protecting our Diversity and History: We pushed back against Trump's attacks on DEI and have fought to protect our shared history in our Smithsonian museums.

Defending Our Immigrant Neighbors: We defended our immigrant neighbors, met with families directly impacted, and pushed back against Trump and ICE's cruel and unlawful mass deportation agenda.

Advancing Economic Justice: We've sounded the alarm and demanded action on the pushout of Black women from the workforce and fought to affirm housing as a human right.

Justice for Survivors: As a survivor of sexual violence and member of the House Oversight committee, I've been pushing to release the Epstein Files and deliver transparency, accountability, and healing for survivors of Epstein's abuse. I've also fought to support and honor survivors of homicide victims.

Bold Criminal Legal Reform: My office released a new, first-of-its-kind report exposing Trump's clemency gap and how his pardons have neglected those who need them most.

Protecting Student Borrowers: I introduced the Ending Administrative Garnishment Act to protect student borrowers from Trump's attacks.

Choosing Community Over Chaos

This year, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s question to us all loomed large: "Where do we go from here? Chaos or community?"

We answered with community. I was grateful to meet and speak with thousands of you at my town halls, morning coffees, and roundtable discussions, where we discussed how we're fighting back against Trump and Republicans' harmful agenda.

All across the Massachusetts 7th, we shared how we can stand up for our communities and provided vital resources to support our families and neighbors.

Governing Cooperatively

I've always said that the people closest to the pain should be closest to the power, driving and informing the policymaking, which is why I always listen to those directly impacted.

This year, my team and I held dozens of roundtables and listening sessions where we heard directly from community members and stakeholders on issues of consequence, including housing affordability, support for our seniors, investing in small businesses, tackling food insecurity, funding for medical research, and so much more.

Standing Up for our Neighbors

Together, we rejected the Trump administration's cruel, callous attacks on our community members. We stood up, fought back, and showed what community really looks like.

Earlier this year, when rogue, masked federal agents unlawfully abducted my constituent Rümeysa Öztürk for exercising her right to free speech and transported her to a detention center in rural Louisiana, my staff and I mobilized. We conducted real-time oversight, advocated on her behalf, and traveled to Louisiana to meet with her while she was unjustly incarcerated. Today, thanks to our collective advocacy, Rümeysa is back home and continuing her research, teaching, and contributions to our community.

Similarly, my office has been steadfast in our commitment to due process for everyone in our community, including our immigrant neighbors. When Immigration and Customs Enforcement unlawfully raided a car wash and abducted several employees—including a five women and a 67-year-old man who was disappeared for days without access to his medication—my office in close touch with the families and has worked with them to track down their loved ones and connect them with legal counsel. We were proud to welcome them home earlier this month.

Looking Forward

I am deeply grateful for your partnership and honored to stand alongside you as we continue fighting for everyone who calls the Massachusetts 7th home—and the work continues into 2026. As always, my team and I are ready to support you in any way we can, so please don't hesitate to give us a call at 617-850-0040 if we can be of assistance.

In service and solidarity,
