In a moment, I’m going to ask you to donate a few dollars to my campaign - I know it’s a busy time with the holiday season in full swing, and you’re probably getting a lot of similar messages right now. But, I hope you’ll read on, because our FEC deadline at midnight tonight is a critical test of our strength heading into 2026.
If you’ve been on this team for a while, you know I don’t ask for donations lightly. I’d much rather keep you updated on the work I’m doing in Congress and back home — the work we’re doing together to defend affordable health care, safeguard our environment, and stand up for every member of our community.
And, this has been one of the most consequential years yet.
My Democratic colleagues and I are fighting nonstop to protect health care access, lower costs, stop Big Oil giveaways, and preserve the progress we’ve made on clean energy, climate action, and economic justice. I’ve always tried to find bipartisan solutions when possible, but the growing influence of extremism within the House GOP has made that incredibly difficult.
This past year, we’ve seen the Republican majority bend over backward to cater to Donald Trump and his billionaire friends. They passed their Big, Ugly Bill, which gutted clean energy investments and made the largest cuts to SNAP in American history. They let health care premiums drift toward a cliff by refusing to extend the ACA tax credits that 37,000 people in our district rely on. And instead of helping families get through an affordability crisis, they spent months fighting with each other like ferrets in a phone booth.
From GOP infighting to a government shutdown that hurt families, businesses, and federal workers across California and the country, the House GOP has shown us again and again that they’re not capable of governing.
But while they sow dysfunction, you can count on me to keep pushing back against their attacks on affordable health care, attempts to silence communities and fast-track polluting projects, and reckless efforts to dismantle the laws that protect our environment, our democracy, and our livelihoods.
We can’t stop Republicans from being dysfunctional. But we can stop their dysfunction from devastating our country.
Right now, with a narrow GOP majority, much of our work is defensive - holding the line and preventing them from undoing the progress we made in the last Congress. But in 2026, we’ll have the chance to flip the House, restore responsible leadership, and get back on offense, delivering real solutions for the American people.
That’s why this final FEC deadline of 2025 matters so much. Our fundraising numbers will be public for everyone to see, so we need to demonstrate that our grassroots team is ready to defeat extremism and protect the work we’re doing together.
