John,
The National Rifle Association (NRA) is currently a tax-exempt nonprofit organization. In return for tax-exemption, it’s supposed to operate in the public interest. However, the NRA works almost exclusively to make the gun industry rich — at the expense of public safety.
We’re calling on the IRS to do a thorough investigation into the NRA. If the IRS finds what we suspect — that the NRA is abusing its tax-exempt status to churn profits for the gun industry — then we demand that the NRA’s tax-exempt status be immediately revoked.
We need 50,000 signatures on our petition to challenge the NRA’s tax-exempt status. Can you add your name today?
Here’s what would be in the public’s best interest: expanded background check legislation. The very legislation that the NRA has repeatedly fought to block, using its “tax-exempt” funds. Even the majority of the NRA’s own members support background checks.
It’s crystal clear that the NRA is only operating on behalf of the gun industry, not for gun owners and certainly not for the safety of the general public. That’s not what a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization is supposed to do.
John, we need to show the NRA that it’s not above the law. That’s why we’re delivering 50,000 petition signatures directly to the IRS. Add your name to our petition to the IRS to challenge the NRA’s tax-exempt status.
A petition with 50,000 names demands that the IRS take action! Thank you for stepping up at this pivotal moment in America’s battle against gun violence. The end just might be in sight!
