Happy New Year’s Eve. Whether you’re staying in tonight or counting down to the new year out on the town, I hope you’re enjoying yourself.

Bruce, Bailey and I will be spending New Year's Eve the same way we always do — watching Casablanca for the zillionth time.

I know, I know. At this point maybe it’s the zillionth-bajillionth time. But still, every time I watch it, I feel hopeful.

Watching how Rick, Ilsa, Lazlo, and Sam confront cynicism with hope, resist the oppressive forces of World War II, and make personal sacrifices for the greater good of the world during a fearful and uncertain moment in history — I see this movie as an inspiring call to action.

As we turn the page to a transformational new year tomorrow, a similar chill of fear and uncertainty hangs in the air.

People are rightly afraid. Afraid for their families and neighbors. Afraid for immigrants. Afraid for our children. Afraid for trans people. Afraid for people feeling so squeezed to only barely get by. Afraid for our country. Afraid for our planet.

The future of our country hangs in the balance with next year’s elections, and it comes to us to decide what we will do with this moment in history.

I’m choosing to believe that the dreams we imagine for a better world are still possible — and worth fighting for — on this New Year's Eve.

Together, we can choose hope over fear, courage over timidity, and dreams over cynicism. It’s going to take hard work in 2026. But I know this team is up to the task. And I’m asking if you can chip in to help keep up the fight, and the hope.

Please make a donation, if you can, to help hit our fundraising goal before tonight’s last FEC deadline of the year. $28 or whatever you can contribute would go a long way to help make our movement even stronger for 2026 and beyond.

Thanks for being a part of this,

Elizabeth
