Friend ? read this today? ? ? ? ? This is a developing story? as you read this, the House is nearing a vote on a bill to adequately fund the EPA and Interior Department. This could be a major slap in the face for Trump, who has been fighting to slash funding and gut the EPA since the beginning of his presidency.

This will set up a major fight in Congress ? Trump knows that this could be his last chance to push through some of his most damaging policies before the election is in full swing. He's going to push ? hard ? for the Republican-controlled Senate to force a long list of damaging amendments into the final bill.

This will move quickly. These are considered must-pass bills ? the government shuts down if there is no agreement on a funding bill.

We are mounting a major pressure campaign to ensure this bill passes as is, and we need your help right now. A major donor has agreed to contribute $500,0000 to LCV ? only if 10,000 LCV members chip in before the end of July. [link removed]

$500,000 would be a total gamechanger. July is the most critical month of this year, because it will determine what kind of resources we will have to fight Trump on multiple fronts between now and November.

Small donations count just as much as big ones toward meeting this goal. If everyone who reads this message donated just $5, we'd blow through this goal in minutes.

Please, friend, we really need your help right now. The best thing you can do is to renew your LCV membership today ? it costs just $5 ? [link removed]

Since he took office, Trump has been systematically undermining the EPA by rolling back public health and safety measures and regulations that prevent the release of toxic chemicals, and since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, he has been quietly pushing to undermine those safety measures back even further. These dangerous rules disproportionately affect Black, Indigenous and Latinx communities, who already disproportionately experience health issues like asthma as a result of poor air quality, and who are now experiencing far higher death rates from COVID-19.

Now, as the country continues to see record numbers of new coronavirus cases almost daily, Trump is pushing to make those rules permanent. As people rise up across America to protest against systemic racism, Trump continues to advance an agenda that directly targets the communities who suffer most from its effects.

Trump doesn't care about these communities, any more than he cares about the environment. He only cares about himself and his re-election chances, and as the election draws nearer, all signs indicate that he will do whatever it takes to pander to deep-pocketed corporate polluters.

The upcoming spending bill could be a sneaky way for him to push through some of his most damaging policies yet. Friend, I can't stress this enough: We cannot stay silent while the fate of the EPA ? and the lives of people across the country ? is on the line. We must put the pressure on immediately and ensure Trump doesn't get his way.

We're quickly running out of time, which is why I'm reaching out now. We need to reach our goal of $10,000 donations from LCV members before the end of July, or we'll risk missing out on a $500,000 grant. We can not afford to sit this one out.

Friend, this is an all-hands-on-deck moment. If everyone reading this right now pitched in ? even $5 ? we'd blow through this goal in minutes.

Please ? don't wait. As I said before, this month will set the stage for the weeks ahead. Let's start off strong. Make a donation to LCV today ? [link removed]

I know we can do anything if we stand together. Thank you, friend, for standing with us now.
