Hey, friend -- glad I could catch you before the ball drops.

If you’d told me ten years ago that I’d one day serve in Congress, as an out gay man, as a scientist, as someone from a working-class community in the Midwest… I probably would’ve laughed. I loved being a meteorologist. I loved explaining what was coming next, helping people feel prepared. But I didn’t always feel like someone who “fit in” when it came to politics.

Now, I serve as the only trained meteorologist in Congress, and the first openly gay federal representative ever elected in Illinois. And I carry that with me every single day.

We’ve passed legislation to make insulin more affordable. We’ve held Big Pharma accountable. We’ve protected ACA subsidies and defended LGBTQ rights in the face of relentless attacks from the far-right. I’ve taken tough votes and spoken up when others stayed silent. And I’ve worked across the aisle when I could without compromising what I believe in.

But next year is going to be even harder. We’re up against a flood of dark money and an extremist movement that wants to take us backward. And this seat, IL-17, is one of the most competitive in the country.

We’ve built something special here. A campaign powered by real conversations, real science, and real people. If you’re proud of what we’ve done, and ready to keep fighting for what comes next, I hope you’ll consider supporting us before the year ends.

Thank you for believing in this work, and thank you for giving me the chance to serve. Here’s to a productive 2026.
