Dear John,

As I reflect on 2025 in these final hours of the year, I keep coming back to two young men: Ibrahim Bharmal ([link removed]) and Elom Tettey-Tamaklo ([link removed]) .

Earlier this year, both were facing serious criminal charges simply for engaging in peaceful protest on their campus. They were frightened, overwhelmed, and unsure of what their futures would look like. One mistake by a university or prosecutor could have followed them for the rest of their lives.

When MPAC got involved, our work wasn’t symbolic. We helped connect them with legal partners. We coordinated public accountability. We worked behind the scenes to ensure their rights were respected.

In the end, all charges were dismissed.

That outcome didn’t happen because the system corrected itself. It happened because people were willing to intervene quickly, credibly, and with persistence.

Stories like Ibrahim’s and Elom’s are why MPAC exists.

They’re also why, as the year comes to a close, I’m asking you to make a year-end gift before midnight.
$25 — Stand Up for Students Zakat-eligible • Tax-deductible ([link removed])
$50 — Defend Civil Liberties Zakat-eligible • Tax-deductible ([link removed])
$100 — Sustain This Work Zakat-eligible • Tax-deductible ([link removed])
$250 — Be There When It Matters Zakat-eligible • Tax-deductible ([link removed])

What happened to Ibrahim and Elom is not an isolated incident. This year alone, MPAC has been called upon repeatedly by students, educators, families, and community leaders when rights were threatened, and silence would have carried real consequences.

Your support makes it possible for us to answer those calls.

For many in our community, this moment is also one of intention.

Your gift to MPAC is Zakat-eligible, supporting work rooted in justice and dignity, and fully tax-deductible for the year.
Custom Amount — Give What You Can Zakat-eligible • Tax-deductible ([link removed])

I know there are many demands on your generosity today. I don’t ask lightly.

But if you believe that no student should have their future jeopardized for exercising their conscience and that our community deserves a voice when it matters most, I hope you’ll stand with us before the year ends.

Thank you for being part of this work.

In Service,
