I’m sitting down to write to you personally with just a few hours left before the year comes to a close.
I’ve been thinking a lot tonight about why I started this journey — long before this campaign, long before the polls. I went to Congress because I believed DC deserved to be heard. I worked in our Attorney General’s office because our most vulnerable neighbors deserved better. I ran for Council because I knew local government could be a force for good.
And now I’m running for Congress for the same reason I’ve always served: because I care deeply about this city and the people who call it home.
We set a goal of 1,000 individual donors to end the year strong. I knew I didn’t care as much about the amount of money as I did about the individuals helping, because grassroots support is the clearest signal of the kind of representation I want to bring to Congress.
