We looked back into the past: failures, lessons, wins, all of it. And we saw a huge opportunity for growth.
For over 30 years, we allowed just about 50 seats to go uncontested every single election. In far too many cases, voters didn’t even have the option of voting for a Democrat below the top of the ticket!
As leader of the Party, I’m taking accountability, and we’re making huge changes. It’s already paying off, and here’s how:
- We have recruited 104 badass candidates who are running for office in their communities. They’re part of the fight for the basic rights Texans deserve: fair wages, affordable healthcare, and public safety.
- The energy we’re building on the ground — paired with aggressive organizing and serious turnout work — has pushed the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee to put Texas on its target map.
- We’ve brought in the big guns: our new Executive Director, Terri Burke, is going to be a game-changer for the Party. Her unique combination of policy expertise, communications mastery, and organizing strength makes her exactly the leader we need to build a Democratic future rooted in inclusion, innovation, and results.
Turning these opportunities into victories will require early, sustained investment in the campaigns and infrastructure that power turnout. We have just a few more hours until the midnight deadline hits, and we’re still about $3,700 short of our end-of-year $26,000 fundraising goal.
