Fellows and Interns threw down this summer. Here are a few of our fave highlights from their work this summer:
- Georgia Shift fellows drafted two pieces of legislation about a need-based financial aid program and in-state tuition for DACA recipients.
- 20 new young leaders graduated from Leaders Igniting Transformation’s second annual Black Hogwarts program learning about everything from community organizing to anti-oppression work.
- Minnesota Youth Collective’s fellows helped build and launch two new issue campaigns around Democracy Done Right and Broke AF.
- 40 summer fellows (yes, 40!) organized with MOVE Texas to fight for paid sick time and close the border camps.
- Next Up fellows collected 650 pledge-to-vote cards at community events across the city. In addition to this work, they also spread the word about Next Up’s rebrand, ensuring that young people across the tri-county area know about the organization's exciting transition and what they have coming up next.
- Fellows from Pennsylvania Student Power Network led a campaign that eventually forced the Pennsylvania Board of Governors to freeze tuition for the first time in 21 years.
And fellows did so much more! Dive deeper into all the Summer leadership development work at 13 Alliance organizations in our blog post here.
We are so proud of these summer fellowship and intern programs because they not only support the critical organizing work year-round, but they are also training the fierce, young organizers we need in communities throughout the country.
