Amba's Second Chance

Bags of scales, slabs of meat, and the bodies of pangolins who had been boiled alive. This is the fate that awaits most pangolins caught in the wildlife trade. But not this time.

In August, our partners at Jakarta Animal Aid Network (JAAN), in collaboration with local authorities, arrived at a poacher's house and found 80 kilograms--over 175 pounds--of pangolin scales, and one pangolin still alive: Amba.

Amba was rushed to JAAN's rescue center for medical treatment. Covered in ticks but full of spirit, he quickly began to heal. Since settling in, he's become confident and curious, earning himself a name as an escape artist in training--constantly digging away at the sand in his enclosure! He spends his days exploring in the sand and feasting on his favorite treat: ants.

Friend, although pangolins are critically endangered, they are still being poached in large numbers. Thankfully, there is still hope for animals like Amba, caught in the illegal wildlife trade. That’s why your support today is so important. With only hours left before midnight, you still have time to have your generosity to be TRIPLED for animals across the world.

to TRIPLE your gift

====================================================

The demand for pangolins comes from Traditional Chinese Medicine, where their scales are used as an ingredient. Even though many countries have banned their use, the black market continues to fuel illegal trade. Pangolins are also sold for their meat and as pets.

Their profitability has made pangolins like Amba the most trafficked mammal in the world and critically endangered.

And they're not alone. From elephants to lions, monkeys to sloths, countless wild animals are torn from their homes or relentlessly bred in captivity--their bodies exploited for entertainment, traditional medicine, fashion, status, and profit.

But that’s what compassionate people like you are helping to change, Friend. Thanks to donor support, countless animals, like Amba, have a chance to live free and wild, as animals should. Your support will help drive the investigations, the rescues, and the global campaigns fighting to dismantle the cruel systems that cause so many animals to suffer.

Friend, don't miss this chance to TRIPLE your gift. The deadline is just a few hours away--11:59 pm. Please give as generously as you can so your gift can be TRIPLED.

When we tackle cruelty at its source, we protect not just one animal--but thousands.

Sincerely,
Your World Animal Protection US team
