story shows exactly what your support actually does.
When I first met Tammica, I could feel her heartache, and I could see her
passion.
In 2023, Tammica lost her son, Jovian, while he was working as a
correctional officer in Texas.

She met with lawmakers. Built coalitions. And fought for the protections
that could have saved her son.
And in 2025 — she won. The Jovian Motley Act is now law.
Because of her advocacy, today every correctional officer in Texas
receives trauma-informed training, crisis intervention, behavioral health
support, and life-saving procedures.
