Dear John,

As we close out the year, all of us at the Institute for Justice want to express our gratitude for our supporters. Their generosity has fueled our mission to defend the constitutional rights of everyday Americans.

Here are some of the ways IJ is pushing back against government overreach:

- This year, through IJ’s Project on the Fourth Amendment, we represented clients like Tim Thomas, whose lakeside cabin was a refuge for his late wife Stephanie after her cancer diagnosis—until a state fishing enforcement officer repeatedly trespassed without a warrant. IJ stepped in to challenge the Pennsylvania law that allows such invasions of privacy and to vindicate Tim’s Fourth Amendment rights and the property rights of all Pennsylvanians.

- The Supreme Court unanimously sided with the Martin family, victims of a terrifying FBI wrong-house raid. This victory prevents the government from creating a new loophole in one of the only laws that lets people hold federal officials accountable when they violate the Constitution. Because of IJ’s advocacy, the Martin family can continue their fight for accountability and justice.

- We launched our Plate Privacy Project to bolster our ongoing fight against continual warrantless surveillance—in this case, automatic license plate reader cameras tracking drivers’ every move whether they’re on the highway or outside their own home, without judicial oversight. IJ is fighting to restore Americans’ right to be free of unreasonable searches.

Every case we win, every family we help, every freedom we protect, is made possible by people like you. As we look ahead, we’re preparing for even bigger fights to protect constitutional rights and limit government overreach.

Now is the perfect time to become an IJ donor ([link removed] ) —we need your help to continue this work. ([link removed] )
