I’m proud to be a lifelong champion for working families. It’s because of families like mine that I saw the importance of keeping the middle class strong at a young age -- my grandpa was a union painter, and my grandma was a public school teacher.
They worked hard to build a life they were proud of, and today, that American Dream is painfully out of reach.
It’s what drove me to run for Congress, and in 2022, we flipped this seat in Central and Southern Illinois from red to blue. I became the first woman to ever represent IL-13 in Congress.
Since then, I’ve gone to bat for our communities in Washington -- even when it means going toe-to-toe with the destructive MAGA agenda. And there’s so much more work to be done.
Looking ahead to the midterm election year, my goals are simple: Keep standing up to Trump, and work to make life more affordable for Illinoisans.
