John,

We scored an incredible environmental victory in Congress! The US House of Representatives just passed the Great American Outdoors Act, a bipartisan bill that would fully fund the Land and Water Conservation Fund and help restore the infrastructure in our national parks and public lands.

Passage of this legislation was critical since the National Park Service is facing a $12 billion backlog in much-needed maintenance for roads, bridges, water systems and more due to an enormous lack of funding. This is great news for Maine, too, because our state's vast and beautiful outdoor spaces are so important to our well being and economy, especially during the pandemic.

Both of Maine's representatives in the House, Chellie Pingree and Jared Golden, voted in favor of this important legislation. We need your help now to send them both a big THANK YOU for supporting this important piece of conservation legislation that MCV and our allies have long been fighting for.

Tell Reps. Pingree & Golden: Thank you for supporting the Great American Outdoors Act. Click here to send your message. [[link removed]]

For more than 50 years, the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) has been the lifeblood to protect and maintain some of our nation's most iconic national treasures, parks and public spaces, preserve wildlife, and strengthen our outdoor economy. But for years Congress has siphoned money from LWCF for other programs.

Now with the passage of one of the most important conservation bills in a generation, the Land and Water Conservation Fund will finally receive full funding, and the National Park Service can begin repairing crumbling roads and bridges, hiking trails and park facilities.

The Senate has already passed the bill by an overwhelmingly bipartisan vote, and Trump has signaled he will sign it into law.

Now, will you join us to thank Reps. Pingree and Golden for standing up for our nation's public lands and environment? Click here to send them a thank you message. [[link removed]]

Thank you,

Beth
