Hunt: Sec. Condoleezza Rice, Larry Sabato to keynote Virtual Caucus [ [link removed] ]
In a new message to credit union advocates, NAFCU Executive Vice President of Government Affairs and General Counsel Carrie Hunt touted the association's upcoming Virtual Congressional Caucus as a way to connect with policymakers on positive change for the credit union industry and hear from influencers, including 66th U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.


NAFCU defends CU tax exemption, MBL relief [ [link removed] ]
NAFCU Executive Vice President of Government Affairs and General Counsel Carrie Hunt Wednesday sent a letter setting the record straight on credit unions' requests for Congress to provide relief from the arbitrary member business lending (MBL) cap and the benefits of the industry's tax-exempt status so that they can do more to help businesses and consumers recover from the coronavirus pandemic.

The House Financial Services Committee today is set to review the House-passed HEROES Act and prior to the hearing, NAFCU's Brad Thaler outlined ways credit unions are working to provide their members with financial support and relief amid the pandemic and ways Congress can bolster those efforts.

Ahead of today's Senate Small Business Committee hearing to examine capital access for minority-owned small businesses during the coronavirus pandemic, NAFCU's Brad Thaler shared the association's support of the committee's attention to increasing capital access for these businesses and credit unions' commitment to serving these communities.


CFPB releases survey for small biz data collection, announces cost-benefit analysis symposium [ [link removed] ]
The CFPB continues its symposia series next week with an event focused on the use of cost-benefit analysis in consumer financial protection regulation. In addition, the bureau released a survey related to small business lending data collection, which was discussed at a previous symposium.

The NCUA today is hosting a webinar focused on financial inclusion for people with disabilities in recognition of the 30th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).


Existing-home sales see record rebound in June [ [link removed] ]
Existing-home sales rebounded 20.7 percent in June to a seasonally-adjusted annual rate of 4.72 million units, representing the highest month-over-month gain on record. However, sales are down 11.3 percent versus a year ago.
