Let's recap where we're at ... and then I am going to ask you to make a contribution to help me fight back.

Last month, shortly before Thanksgiving, President Trump threatened me and a number of other service and veteran lawmakers with arrest, trial ...

...because he didn't agree with a video we put out.

His response unleashed a series of very real consequences. Immediately after Trump's initial response, I received a tidal wave of death threats, and was placed under 24 hour security protection.

I wish I could say that was the end ... but it was not.

Shortly after, the FBI's Counterterrorism Division appeared to open an inquiry into me in response to the video and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has threatened my friend, Senator Mark Kelly, with court-martial.

The truth is, President Trump believes in weaponizing the federal government against his perceived enemies and does not believe laws apply to him or his Cabinet. He uses legal harassment as an intimidation tactic to scare people out of speaking up. He’s done it to law firms, universities, private sector companies, and private individuals.

Now he is trying it on me.

It won't work.

I swore an oath to the Constitution, many times, most recently less than a year ago as a United States Senator.

An oath to the Constitution -- not to any one man, not to any one president.

I abide by that oath.

I have always worked to be upfront and honest in these emails. These threats from the FBI mean we've had to start thinking through a legal defense strategy because we have no idea where President Trump and his Justice Department will end up taking this inquiry.

Today is New Year's Eve -- it's an FEC fundraising deadline but also a natural break point where we'll take stock of the resources we have to fight back when it ends.

So while I know your inbox is flooded with requests from campaigns and organizations asking for your donations, I had hoped explaining what your support would go toward for me would help you consider tossing a few bucks my way before midnight.

Here's a link:

If helping me stand up to President Trump is worth $5, $50 or whatever donation you can afford, please use this link to make a contribution to my campaign before midnight tonight.
