After such a difficult year, one in which the Trump administration has demonstrated time and again its complete disregard for our Constitution and the rule of law, it's crucial that we end strong and ready to tackle the challenges that lie ahead.

Defending our rights and the future of our democracy is the fight of our lifetime. With your help today, we can keep this fight going in 2026 and beyond. Together, we will:

• Protect freedom of speech. The Trump administration's attempts to silence dissent are only growing more severe. We will continue to fervently defend the right of everyone in this country to speak freely and criticize our government, including students, protesters and journalists, regardless of immigration status.
• Defend asylum and immigrants' rights. We've gone to court and won major blocks against President Trump's use of the Alien Enemies Act to deport immigrants without due process and the Trump administration's executive order attacking citizenship for babies born on US soil. With your support in the year ahead, we'll defend birthright citizenship all the way up to the Supreme Court.
• Challenge the domestic deployment of military troops. As the Trump administration uses the military and heavily-armed federal agents to go after our neighbors and sow fear in immigrant communities, the ACLU and our affiliates will continue to make clear to the courts and to Congress that the military has no business policing civilians.
• Guard our right to vote ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. We've already achieved historic wins for voters of color in Alabama, Montana, and Mississippi. In the next year, we'll continue to fight for voting rights and fair representation, as we wait for a decision in our Supreme Court case, Louisiana v. Callais.
• Continue to activate our millions of supporters to take action online, attend Know Your Rights trainings, and show up at protests where it matters.

Let me assure you: From the courtroom to Congress, and from communities to state legislatures, our nationwide network of attorneys and advocates will challenge any attack on our freedoms. But it will be the fight of our lifetimes, and we're only able to stay in it with the generous support of members like you.
