New Year’s Eve always has a certain pause to it. A moment to catch your breath and look at where you're standing. This year, that pause feels different. There is a sense of possibility that has been missing from British politics for far too long.
The story of 2025 was simple. People looked at the old way of doing politics and decided it was not good enough. You could see that shift on doorsteps, in council chambers, in community meetings, and in every poll that showed the Greens rising and staying there.
We now have energy that the country has not seen from us before. The question for 2026 is whether we make the most of it.
Across England and Wales, there are communities ready for real change. Safer streets. Warm homes. A fairer economy. A political culture that treats people with dignity. Our local parties are growing in strength and confidence. Our national voice is clearer than ever. And our target campaigns are building the conditions for breakthroughs that could reshape what is possible in British politics.
But none of that is guaranteed. It becomes real only if people step forward.
