Friend,
Today, I was away from my computer all day tending to family needs. About 45 minutes ago, I finally had the chance to log into our database and quickly realized I have news to share with you.
On Sunday night, I emailed an update that, thanks to you, we'd raised $10,797 and were just $1,203 shy of our December 31 goal of $12,000.
Well, in the 48 hours since then, dozens of you have stepped up to donate an additional $3,079. That's right: with one day remaining, we've exceeded our goal and raised $13,876 -- and counting [[link removed]] !
That means we've also secured the $10,000 match from our board of directors, bringing the current total to $23,876 . This is on track to become our most successful year-end campaign ever. Thank you so much. With your help, we'll continue the work to make this a region where housing is abundant and affordable, and where it's safe and easy to take transit, bike, walk, or roll to get around.
According to conventional fundraising wisdom, what I wrote above is a risk: I've shared that we already met our goal. That might eliminate some would-be supporters' motivation to give. But I wanted to share with you the reality of what's unfolding.
So, I'm writing not just to update you, but also to request:
Help us smash that goal! [[link removed]]
As a nonprofit, we try to set realistic budgets with realistic goals. But sometimes, to make real progress, you have to take a step back and redefine "realistic."
We have a wishlist. It includes things like: a few key additional hires, more robust trainings and peer learning opportunities, and expanded political work. Every additional dollar we raise through this campaign brings us one dollar closer to those wish-list items that aren't yet in the 2026 budget, but should be, and could be .
Let's work together to redefine what's realistic. If you haven't yet had the chance, please make a year-end gift to GGWash [[link removed]] . (And if you're curious to dig further into the impact of your gift, last week, I wrote this post [[link removed]] detailing our financial picture.)
Over the course of this year-end campaign, it has felt really, really good to be reminded just how many of us are in this together. I hope that through these updates, you're able to experience even a fraction of the inspiration and hope that I'm feeling. Here's to starting off 2026 strong, together.
[[link removed]] Warmly,
Chelsea Allinger
Executive Director
