John,
This year, Americans for Tax Fairness exposed how the tax code continues to be weaponized for billionaires and giant corporations. We showed how profitable companies used the Trump era loopholes to dodge billions in taxes while funneling record sums to executives and shareholders through stock buybacks and dividends.
Americans for Tax Fairness released dozens of reports and fact sheets documenting how so-called temporary business tax breaks are repeatedly revived, draining public revenue year after year and making it harder to fund healthcare, education, housing, and basic services. And, in passing their Big Ugly Bill, Republicans made many of these tax breaks for the rich and corporations permanent, even while claiming there is no money for services for working families.
We paired our research with pressure. We organized hundreds of Hill meetings and helped shape a clear anti-billionaire message that cut through because it named who benefits and who pays. When lawmakers tried to move tax giveaways quickly and quietly, we made the costs visible and politically unavoidable.
We also took this fight public at scale. Americans for Tax Fairness generated 2,284 media hits reaching 6.4 billion earned media impressions, alongside tens of millions of impressions across social platforms. That reach mattered because it forced corporate tax dodging and budget hypocrisy into the national conversation instead of letting it stay buried in committee rooms.
This kind of visibility takes sustained research, rapid response, and the capacity to move quickly when new tax scams surface. Every report, briefing, press push, and organizing campaign is part of the same effort to make sure billionaire giveaways cannot slide through Congress unnoticed. The pressure only works if it is constant, coordinated, and well-resourced.
In order to keep exposing and stopping these tax scams, we need your end-of-year support today. Please make a year-end tax-deductible donation to Americans for Tax Fairness and power our research, reporting, and activism in the New Year.
This year, Americans for Tax Fairness supporters and partners took over 2.2 million actions, including a single campaign that produced 256,000 letters demanding Congress reject a corporate tax giveaway. That kind of volume changes what lawmakers are willing to do behind closed doors.
We also expanded who hears these arguments. Through a new influencer pilot, Americans for Tax Fairness reached 2.2 million views and 185,000 engagements, and our Latino outreach generated 701 Spanish-language media placements reaching an estimated 200 million people. That work highlighted what’s at stake for that community, including research showing that letting Affordable Care Act tax credits expire could cause 1 million Latinos to lose health coverage.
The opposition understands exactly what they are doing. Trump and his billionaire allies have made these tax breaks permanent and will use the resulting deficits to justify further cuts to Medicaid, SNAP, and other critical services.
We’re preparing now to meet that push with hard evidence, public pressure, and coordinated organizing that forces accountability.
Please make an end-of-year donation of $5 or more to help power this work in 2026 and beyond.
