ALL GIFTS TRIPLE MATCHED UNTIL MIDNIGHT ON 12/31!
Dear John,
When my partner and I had our first baby using fertility treatments, we knew our catastrophic insurance plan wouldn't cover the costs. But by the time we were ready for our second, we had a new health insurer and a full-coverage plan—one that should have covered the fertility treatments necessary for us to conceive as a same-sex couple.
Instead, our insurer denied the claim , saying that we needed to go through 12 cycles of expensive, time consuming, and emotionally trying artificial insemination before we could qualify for any fertility benefits. If my spouse and I were straight, we'd only need to say we had been trying for a year. But because we are queer, we had to pay tens of thousands of dollars and go through round after round of unnecessary medical treatment just to qualify for the same benefits straight couples got without these onerous requirements.
So we called the National Women's Law Center and went to court.
Our right to access our health insurance benefits shouldn't depend on our sexual orientation. The National Women's Law Center is fighting for a just, equitable future for ALL people—and until midnight tomorrow, your support will go 3X as far to help protect our rights. [[link removed]]

NWLC took up our case, bringing a class action lawsuit on behalf of us and other LGBTQIA+ couples who can become pregnant, arguing that this policy discriminated against us in violation of federal and state law. In a huge victory, we reached a groundbreaking settlement: not only did our insurance company agree to pay over $2 million to us and others who were subjected to this policy, they also agreed to major changes to their fertility treatment coverage policy that will allow equitable access to fertility treatments. In a second case brought by NWLC, these policy changes will hopefully become enforceable nationwide. And our cases set critical precedent to hold other insurers accountable too.
I'm grateful that thanks to supporters like you, NWLC was able to take on our case and help folks like us build the families of our dreams. But as Donald Trump and his billionaire allies launch attack after attack on our most basic rights and freedoms, it's more important than ever that we join together and protect vulnerable families like ours —we all must join the fight for the better world we know is possible because only together can we make that world a reality.
Your triple-matched support will help fuel NWLC's critical work in the year to come, powering the lawyers, advocates, and researchers working tirelessly to protect our freedoms and defend our fundamental rights. This match ENDS at midnight tomorrow, so don't wait! Make 3X the impact with your renewal gift right now. [[link removed]]
