Hello Jack,
At our shelter, you'll meet pet lovers of every age, background, and neighborhood. Families bring children to volunteer; retirees and college students take dogs for walks; Girl Scouts build book carts for Read to Rover. We offer help and care for every animal – and support for every person who needs it.
Our previous name was "Dearborn Animal Shelter," but we changed it when we realized people from all over metro Detroit were giving, volunteering, and adopting. You could say our new name, Friends for Animals of Metro Detroit, reflects exactly who we are – neighbors helping neighbors in love with animals.
When you donate, you support that community spirit. Your gift helps a child feel confident reading to a dog, an immigrant family keep their cat, and dozens of couples adopt their first pet. Inclusivity is at our core, because caring for animals brings us all together, regardless of our differences.
