Dear Friends,

Today, I nominated Chad King Wilson, Sr. to serve on the Frederick County Board of Education. If confirmed by the County Council, Chad will complete the unexpired term of former Board Member Nancy Wilson.

Chad is an educator, parent, coach, and advocate who understands the issues facing our schools and is ready to hit the ground running in his first day on the job. Just like me, Chad will always put students first.

I first ran for office because I believe teachers should have a voice in decisions that affect our schools. That's even more important today as school systems and counties work to implement the Blueprint for Maryland's Future against a complex backdrop of rising costs and state budget shortfalls. Chad understands these issues because he goes to work each day in a public school classroom, and he will bring a holistic lens to the tough decisions that lie ahead.

Chad is uniquely qualified to serve and ready to make a meaningful contribution on day one - and I look forward to the County Council considering his nomination in January so he can continue to make a difference for our students, educators, families, and communities in this new role.
