Whether it's protecting endangered species, keeping our beaches safe for swimming or defending the great outdoors, everything we do is made possible through our members and supporters.

Here's just a few of the issues we've been tackling and intend to double down on in the coming year:

• Defending our forests: The U.S. Forest Service has proposed opening 45 million acres of wild forest to logging. In September, we activated our network and, along with our allies, submitted more than 600,000 comments calling for the protection of wild forests. We'll keep defending the forests in the new year.2

• Saving the bees: Bee populations are plummeting and a class of toxic pesticides called neonicotinoids are partly to blame. Our national network has already won laws restricting the use of neonics in 12 states including here in Colorado, and we're working to win more.3

• Moving beyond plastics: America has a single-use plastic problem, producing approximately 35 million tons of plastic waste each year. We're mobilizing the public to convince major companies to cut unnecessary plastic and prioritize reusable and recyclable alternatives.4

When we come together, we can accomplish incredible things. Earlier this year, we held an event at the governor's mansion for Colorado Pollinator Week where we called on leaders to restrict neonic-coated seeds, plant more pollinator-friendly habitat and support more pollinator awareness programs in our state.

There's a lot of work ahead of us, but with you by our side, we're looking forward to making Colorado cleaner, greener and healthier.
