As 2025 ends, I’m reflecting on how the economy — and the policies Washington passes that drive up everyday costs — touch every part of our lives.

For many American families, this holiday season was leaner than in years past.

Parents made quiet tradeoffs their kids never saw: fewer gifts under the tree, smaller family gatherings, harder conversations about what “we can’t afford right now.”

And that’s not how it should be. Families who work hard shouldn’t have to dread the holidays or wonder whether next year will be even tougher.
